Turkish numbers
Count in Turkish, from sıfır to milyar
Learn nineteen words and you can say every number up to 99. Type any number into the converter to see it written out in Turkish.
iki bin yirmi altı
The words you need
Ten words for zero to nine, and nine for the tens from on (10) to doksan (90). Every number up to 99 is built from these.
0 to 10
The tens, and a hundred
How every other number works
Turkish puts the parts in order, largest first, with no “and” in between.
Tens first, then ones
Put the two words together.
Hundreds
A hundred is just yüz, never “bir yüz”. For more, say how many hundreds first.
Thousands
The same goes for bin: a thousand has no “bir” in front.
Millions and billions
These do take bir. A billion is milyar.
First, second, third
Add -inci, -ıncı, -uncu or -üncü, whichever matches the word’s last vowel.
Numbers in everyday life
Prices
Turks write a comma where English uses a decimal point, and say lira and kuruş separately.
Phone numbers
Read in groups: the first four digits, then three, then two pairs.
Years
Said as one whole number.
